Beignets/Mardi Gras

Ingredients
Water 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
Yeast 2 Ounce
Oil 1⁄2 Teaspoon
Sugar 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
Egg 1
Flour 4 1⁄2 Cup (72 tbs)
Directions
GETTING READY

1. Grease a bowl with cooking spray and set aside.

 

MAKING

 

2. In a bowl, combine yeast with warm water and sugar. Place this mixture ina bowl of a stand mixture and blend.

3. Gradually add the flour, one cup at time and knead with the help of a stand mixer.

4. Remove the kneaded dough from the stand mixer and transfer the dough to the prepared bowl. Cover with a plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator overnight.

5. Remove the dough from the refrigerator. Lightly dust a work surface with flour and place the dough on it. Start rolling out as shown in the video.

6. Cut the rolled out dough in half, and then cut it into even sized squares.

7 In a pan, heat the oil and fry the beignets until golden brown.

8. Remove the beignets from the pan and soak the excess oil with paper towels. Roll the beignets in confectioner’s sugar.

SERVING

10 Serve for breakfast or as a snack.
